Description
This grant category
provides ticket subsidy funds to public school students for arts and cultural
events. To implement this grant category, the Tennessee Arts Commission works
in partnership with designated agencies across the state to reach every county
in Tennessee. Rose Center will distribute funds to the following counties:
Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, and
Sullivan.
The designated
agencies identify area artists and arts organizations appropriate for public
school students. These artists and arts organizations provide performances,
demonstrations, and/or exhibits offered as field trips or in-school programs
and mail student preparatory materials to teachers prior to their events.
Artists and arts organizations may not charge admission for teachers,
principals, parent chaperones, and other school staff accompanying the
students.
If funded, the
organizing teacher should inform the central office to expect a check from the
designated agency. Please allow one month after the date of the award letter
for delivery of a check for funds.
If a funded event is
cancelled, the organizing teacher or principal must inform the designated
agency within 10 working days from date of cancellation what new arts event
presented by a participating artist or arts organization the funds will be
used. Failure to reschedule or return these funds will be reported to the
Tennessee Arts Commission and will jeopardize future
funding.
