Rose Center is offering two new workshops for writers on June 4. Scriptwriting for Stage and Screen - Joe Powell will lead a discussion on creating original or adapted scripts for theatre and for film in this workshop. Students will learn how to structure a script, from brainstorming ideas to the final draft. Information will also be provided on various writing software programs, and resources for selling and promoting a script. The workshop will be held on June 4 from 10-11:30 AM at Rose Center. The fee for the class is $25 with pre-registration required.
New Markets for Online Writers and EBook Publication - In this workshop Joe Powell will lead a discussion on current and emerging markets for online writing, how to create websites and how to drive traffic to your site, and the freelance online market. Discussion also includes the booming presence and success of EBook publishing and how to use it successfully. The workshop will be held on June 4 from 1-2:30 PM at Rose Center. The fee for the class is $25 with pre-registration required.
Joe Powell has been writing professionally since he was a high school senior and is the author of 2 full length plays, 8 interactive murder mystery dinner theaters, and has created over 30 hours worth of short films. He's also been an online writer for the last 6 years, with his own blog, Cup of Joe Powell, and contributes to blogs in Knoxville, Nashville, and for the Huffington Post and was featured as one of the top bloggers in Tennessee by Metro Pulse in 2010. He has also worked as film critic, columnist, talk-show host and teaches acting classes with the Talented and Gifted program at WSCC, and with the Rose Center and is also a board member of the Morristown Theatre Guild.
